The University of Sargodha was established in 2002 by an ordinance of the Government of Pakistan Formerly, it was called the Government College, Sargodha. Riaz ul Haq Tariq was First Vice Chancellor from 2002 to 2007, then M Akram Chaudhary headed the university from Feb 2007 to 2011. In 2011, Muhammad Ali was worked as the acting Vice-Chancellor and Currently again M Akram Chaudhary performing his duties as Vice Chancellor of University of Sargodha.
